History of Corinth, TX

Located in the north-central portion of Texas, the city of Corinth was established on September 19, 1960, as a municipal corporation. As a result, this region of the state has established itself as one of the most dynamic growth areas in both Texas and the United States.

The city currently occupies a land area of 8 square miles and supports a population of around 20,000 people, which is increasing rapidly. Since May 6, 1999, the city of Corinth has been governed by the council-manager form of administration.

Corinth is located six miles southeast of Denton in the county of Denton. In 1980, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary. The Dallas and Wichita Railway, which erected tracks through the townsite in 1880, was responsible for giving the hamlet its name.

Corinth had a population of 461 people in 1970, 1,264 people in 1980, 3,944 people in 1990, and 11,325 people in 2000, according to the census. The town's development was spurred by the economic expansion that happened along Interstate Highway 35 between Dallas and Denton throughout the 1970s.
